Jessica 6 were formed by various members of Hercules & Love Affair's touring group (including vocalist Nomi Ruiz) while the DFA group were on the road last year. 'Fun Girl' is very much in keeping with the band's origins, tapping into some slick disco-influenced pop, spurred into life by unusually heavy duty, crunching basslines, synth strings and soulful vocals, but to these ears the real draw comes from B-side 'Not Anymore', a haunting torch song molded into a melodramatic Dusty Springfield-style '60s ballad.
