The pacemaker is a handheld all-in-one system which requires no external units, so equipped with a pair of battery powered speakers the Pacemaker DJ can drop a set anywhere, be it in the car, on their lunch break or even on the toilet. The unit has 120GB of internal memory, which means it should store even the most extensive of collections. Its on-board features include a line-out crossfader, headphones crossfader, DJ Pause, loop, Que, split-loop, EQ, gain, filters, headphones jack and a USB connector for downloading music and software updates as well as uploading saved mixes. The display screen is similar to that of an iPod, and those familiar with such devices shouldn't find it too difficult to navigate their way around. The crossfader and circular selection pad are both touch sensitive. When selecting a track, the user must first decide what channel the track will go into, so as to prep it for mixing. Once you've got a track in each channel you're ready to start, and the auto beatmatching function means all you need to do is watch for the beat indicators on the right and left of the display. You are then able to use the crossfader by sweeping your fingers side to side or for a left/right cut pressing the right side of the crossfader whilst your left finger is still in position. Once basic mixing is mastered you can alter the tempo, pitch and frequency ranges and best of all, the on-board recording function means you never need to miss recording that essential mix again.
