Playtime is Over (released on Big Dada records) is largely about Wiley re-laying down his own gauntlet. He angles this album right in the listeners face from the outset and keeps it there to the close. Whilst it’s certainly not a classic, it’s not an unpleasant ride either. 50/50 opens with a crunching grime break and tuba bass framing Eski’s skittering flow. Then follows the inevitable shout out to Bow E3 wrapped around a glossy string hook and spongy elastic bass. Wiley has a decent storytelling ability matched with a good degree of honesty.
